What we are looking for: We are looking for quality young men that are interested in becoming better, not only socially but growing as an individual. The Beta Psi Chapter is a rapidly growing organization on campus. Quality brothers always come before quantity, however, and this means we are looking for academically-oriented, socially responsible leaders who want to participate in a variety of activities from athletics to community service, to social, philanthropic, and inter-Greek events. If you are outgoing, responsible, and want to make life-long friendships through the bonds of brotherhood, then we want you to rush.
How to Join: Interested in going Greek at American? American’s fraternities and sororities recruit on a deferred model for first year students in January. We hold rush events in the fall and spring. Potential new members can join an organization if they meet the three requirements:
- Completed 12 credit hours
- Good standing with the university
- Hold a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- Transfer students are eligible to join their first semester at AU.
Financial Obligation: The only council that has a cost for recruitment is the Panhellenic association. All other councils and chapters do not have a cost for participating in recruitment. All chapters have new member dues as well as semester membership dues throughout the course of your undergraduate years. New member dues range from $250.00 – $800.00 and semester dues can range from $250.00 – $600.00. It is important that you ask about costs during the recruitment period to ensure you fully understand the financial obligations of membership.
Interfraternity Council: The IFC coordinates semi-formal recruitment at the beginning of the spring semesters for the men’s fraternities. In January the IFC will hold a “meet the IFC chapters” event for potential members to learn more about each chapter. Fall recruitment typically is smaller and chapters focus on upperclassmen and transfer students.
